DT – 3/20: Proverbs 6:24-29: Dangers of Sexual Immorality

What can I learn about the nature of sexual immorality through these verses?  From these verses, I can learn the following.  First, sexual immorality begin in the heart (v.25). Like a harmless seed, it just pops up in a person’s mind, and because it is just a thought it is harmless, and so people usually don’t do anything about it.  In fact, they just entertain it and it become fantasy or a form of escapism.  Second, sexual immorality is harmful.  The text implies that it will “reduce us into a loaf of bread,” and it preys upon us (v.26).  Third, sexual immorality seems harmless, but it is in fact very harmful.  The text says that we will get burned by it, even though we think we won’t  (vv.27-28).  The general lesson, then, is to fear sexual immorality, do not be fooled into thinking it doesn’t have consequences and stop it when it enters my mind because if I don’t then it will harm me and ruin my life.
